Mesothelioma and asbestos - Killer connection

Mesothelioma and asbestos are so linked that many people call it by the name of mesothelioma asbestos. While mesothelioma is a serious cancer, asbestos is the major cause. While it may approve things that are still commonly used for a long time, its effect on the environment decide the merit of the product at the end. The same is true with asbestos. The years 1940 and 1950 saw an increase in "asbestos" as the next best thing to happen after the cement in the construction sector. Due to its high stability and very high temperature resistance, asbestos has been largely implemented in the insulators and the ceiling tiles in homes, schools and factories.

However, this product is a noxious pollutant. Asbestos tends to break into small particles and remain suspended in the air for longer periods. Anyone who touches or inhales it becomes vulnerable to serious diseases like asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma lung cancer.

Types of Mesothelioma:

Mesothelioma, asbestos-related cancer, takes its name from the mesothelial cells that is responsible to protect and allow easy movement of our vital organs like lungs, heart and abdomen in the body. Mesothelioma is generally of three types, pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma and pericardial mesothelioma.

If a person suffers from hoarseness, difficulty breathing, weight loss, cough, bloody sputum, chest pain, muscle weakness, decreased tactile sensitivity, which may be suffering from pleural mesothelioma or cancer of the lining of the lungs. This is the most common type of mesothelioma and almost two thirds of patients with pleural mesothelioma mesothelioma sufferers. Peritoneal mesothelioma or cancer of the lining of the abdomen causes altered bowel movement, bloating, swelling of the feet, and nausea. This is less common among patients with mesothelioma and affects one third of patients with mesothelioma. Pericardial mesothelioma is cancer of the lining of the heart. It is also caused by exposure to asbestos. However, its prevalence is rare. Pericardial mesothelioma manifests as chest pain, palpitations, cough and dyspnea.
